    Gourmet Travellers
There's a great selection of cold cuts at the deli counter. Take a culinary trip around the world.
To keep city'super supplied with the more than 600 different kinds of deli meats that are currently offered, buyer Allan Ong is often on the move, flying all over the world to source from suppliers located mainly in Europe and the United States. “The best producers of cold meats are definitely Italy, France and Spain,” says Allan who has been city'super's delicatessen buyer for many years.

Among city'super's best sellers are Parma ham from Italy, smoked turkey breast from the USA, cooked ham from France, pepper salami from Germany and Milano salami from Italy. All the cold meats are carefully sourced from the very best suppliers to ensure that city'super's stringent quality controls are met every time.

When you buy cold meats, it's a good idea to choose them at the end of your shopping trip so that they don't warm up in your cart. Take them directly home and refrigerate them immediately at a temperature of 40F (4C) or colder (harmful bacteria can multiply quickly at temperatures above that). If you're not going to be home within 30 minutes of shopping, put your cold meats in a cooler with ice.

Most refrigerated deli meats are good to eat for 3 to 5 days after purchase, although some more sensitive cuts such as turkey, chicken breast and rare roast beef may be better eaten within 2-4 days. It's a good idea to buy just as much as you will eat within this time frame or freeze the extra. Most deli meats can be frozen for 1 to 2 months. However, some cold cuts, such as ham, are not recommended for freezing since the formation of ice crystals during freezing adversely affects the texture of the meat when thawed.
